There is special significance attributed to completing the entire book of Psalms. Many have the custom of doing so while praying for one specific outcome, such as the recovery of an ill person, finding one’s soulmate, having children, etc.
King David- the author, sang these psalms to G-d during the most frightening, despair-inducing and challenging of situations, as well as during times of joy.
They were written straight from his heart, and that’s why they are so powerful when we recite them with all our heart- it’s as if the righteous King David himself is praying with us, too! So, when one completes the entire Book of Psalms at the very cornerstone of the universe– the Western Wall, where G-d’s presence is promised to always remain, the prayer is all that more powerful.
We encourage you to recite psalms at home, as well. Even if you’ve appointed Kotel Prayers to do so for you, that doesn’t mean you should stop praying! G-d wants us all to build a relationship with him, which we do through prayer- so keep on praying!
